The new AES Engineering Ltd Group Sustainability Report aims to show the business world what can be done about the perilous state of the planet at individual, company and state level.
The report demonstrates that progress can only be made through taking effective action to ensure that businesses, while remaining profitable, work towards delivering a better and more viable world for future generations.
Highlights of the past two years - since we published our 2023 Sustainability Report - include winning a King’s Award for Enterprise in the sustainability category and decommissioning the last of the natural gas-fired heating systems at our Rotherham headquarters.
The company has progressed on its pledge to invest £29 million by 2029 on environmental projects and has gone beyond Net Zero for the fourth consecutive year.In July 2024 our Factory for the Future in Rotherham was voted Sustainable Development of the Year at the South Yorkshire Property Awards. The new building extends and modernizes the previous plant, doubling it in size, to create a 175,000 square foot state-of-the-art factory, designed as a global showcase for sustainable manufacturing.
Project cost includes £5.8 million ($7.5 million) of ‘green-only’ investment, such as solar panels, battery storage, and other energy-saving or environmental measures, and brings total spend on the site to almost £70 million (US$88 million).
There has been progress regarding Betterworld.Solutions of which 24 organisations are currently members, ranging from small and large UK (including Rotherham-based) companies to the Japanese machine tools giant DMG Mori. However, we need more, and we must encourage those who have already joined to share their progress.
Concluding the Sustainability Report 2025, AES Engineering Ltd Group managing director Chris Rea said:Our business model, planning for a sustainable future, caring for customers, has helped drive AES Engineering forward and enabled us to double down on our support for the environment.
"We can, and will, do more.
"My personal hope is that our example will help persuade industry worldwide that seeking profit does not have to come at the expense of a long-term future for our planet.”
