AESSEAL’s sealing solutions and water management systems are saving an estimated 25 billion US gallons (95 billion litres) of water across the world each year, but in reality this is, almost literally, a drop in the ocean. Only a minority of global industry is using available technology that can help save money, save water, and help save the planet. Close to home, Yorkshire Water says stocks are at 42.7%, down from 47.6% at the end of September. This is “well below” the 68.7% average for this point of the year and is a result of the UK experiencing record temperatures and four heatwaves over spring and summer. A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: *“Significant investments are being made in the region's water network and we are into the second year of an £8.3bn investment. We agree that water companies should be accountable to the regions they serve, and we welcome the growing focus on strengthening local oversight and decision-making.* *“We will continue to engage with our local mayors and Government on any plans for the future of the water sector to ensure they deliver for our customers and the environment.”* It’s not just the responsibility of water companies or government though. People need to do more. Businesses need to act. AESSEAL has developed innovative water management systems which, in conjunction with dual seals, can reduce the amount of water consumed by sealing systems, and in one example a FIDC™ seal and SW2 water management system saved almost 900,000 US gallons per year compared with the customer’s previous sealing solution. Similarly, a municipality in Pennsylvania was having issues with major inefficiencies in its sewage treatment system, and AESSEAL replaced split seals with the FIDC™ double seal and the SW2™ water management system. Overall, water savings have been calculated at more than 95 million gallons over the years that the AESSEAL system has been in use. With water becoming increasingly scarce and expensive, optimising water use in industrial processes is crucial. The AES Engineering Group of companies continues to help customers prevent leakage of products into the environment, reduce water and energy consumption and improve the reliability of their machinery and plants, thereby cutting back on unnecessary waste. A total of 42,000 systems have been installed around the world, saving an estimated 1.6 trillion litres of water – enough to supply the population of South Yorkshire for over 20 years.
