AESSEAL's contribution to the Laptops for Kids initiative was singled out for praise in a House of Commons debate on the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in educational settings.

Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford highlighted the company's action in donating money to provide 1,500 laptops for children and help households across South Yorkshire get internet connections as part of a scheme to improve access to online education during the pandemic.

The majority of the laptops were refurbished ones, which would otherwise have gone to landfill. Instead, they were given a new lease of life, both helping the environment and improving the educational prospects of young people.

The Rother Valley MP stressed the need to continue efforts on 'digital inclusion' following a statement by the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson on the easing of Covid-related restrictions from 19 July.

The Education Secretary agreed that  providing computer and internet links to families who could otherwise not afford it played an important role and said he hoped that the efforts of the government, supported by businesses such as AESSEAL, would have a 'long and lasting legacy'.
